Elder sister – 6years older
Dad’s family is from Hyderabad.
- Studied to be a doc but joined the fam
business. Typical story-Grandad came
from Burma with Rs 10 in the pocket
and built a transport empire and handed
over to 4 brothers
- Moms from Mumbai
 1990-1997
PRIMARY SCHOOL

Born 1987 but admitted to school showing birth as 1986 an academic year
early
- Parents could not take another year of me at home
- I still have 2 birth certificated (My fake birthday is 8 th Nov) - Do not
ask for 2 parties !!!
In my Senior Kg had walked home from school as mum was late to pick
me up. Had caught a traffic hawaladar and scream at him to drop me
home, which he did !! So im told
Notorious through St Josephs High School upto the 6 th standard
- Known bully
- Breaking college windows
- Into dancing, karate and sports activities
- Tutors have broken countless rulers on my knuckles
- Known to headbutt people in the stomach
- Have slapped my music teacher
 1997-2002
SECONDARY SCHOOL

Flipped a switch in the 7th standard turned into a nerd

- Topped school for 7th and 8th grade
- Was in a boys school and popular in the area schools for riding a kinetic
since 7th grade
- Had girls stocking me but was the nerdy shy fellow and a teachers pet and
rejected every proposal (What was I thinking !!!)
- Never even abused through school
- Had a Euro trip with my best friend Pratik Dattani in school in the 9th grade
- Mr. Joseph runner up winner (Up on my wall of shame)
- State level hand ball player
- Dad taught me to drive since the 6th grade, so used to sneak out and drive
the car many times. Once my cousin was down for her pilot exam, parents
were outta town and I forgot the car keys in my pants which went for wash.
Was pulled out of school to find the keys which were found after pulling
apart the washing machine !!! Weird she could have just taken a cab!!
Sisters!!!
- Cried for 10th as I got 89.8% and missed the merits while my friends partied
that they passed. Wanted to be an engineer – mechanical, aeronautical or
software
- But Parents convinced to go for commerce as who will head the family
bijness !!!!
 2002-2004
Joined FYJC at Jai hind college after rejecting HR as they were
offering walk in admission but I wanted to wait in a line to submit
my application

Losing the merit and losing science my lost soul flipped a switch
again

- Started cussing

- Drinking and partying (Sis’s BF made me have my first drink)

- Got a car and was and still am a fast driver

- Crashed the car at 170 km/hr into a concrete wall with 7

people in the car and all emerged scratch less
Take Away- in the crash only thing my dad said is the
car will be repaired in 20 days (Family is always there
for you)

- Did not appear for the 4th sem FYJC as I had already passed

- 1st girlfriend was 2 timing me.

- 1st serious break up and Started smoking over the heart break.
Landed up marrying her though. Yes been dating since SYJC

- Had a close knitted group of friends, few from childhood, that

broke up over a girl (How predictable !!)

- Was a major fight with me fighting 12 guys. Obviously I got

beaten up (Another wall of shame certificate)

- Did not study through 12th and scraped through with 70%
 2005-2007
Graduation at jai hind BMS living in the days of
garuda and 3310
- Found a whole new set of friends that are now
family
- Notorious gang – have gotten teachers thrown out
of college, postponed exams, conducted award
ceremonies, got in the papers for selling new year
passes in black and some professors got back at us
as well
- Conducted Kurukshetra at the NCPA, economics
convention
- Part of the fashion show and dance clan
representing the college
- Did summer school in Berkeley
- Had multiple trips to goa, Bangkok, dandeli,
Gujarat, north etc
- Tried our first sting at taking over a bar – HQs at
colaba. We got a deal of 65k per month to run the
place as is but we over negotiated (again wall of
shame!!)
- Lot of late night impromptu drive and over night
studies
- Supported a friend out of depression
- Threw 5500 out from the 5th floor to test if it
works.. It actually does !!

2007-2009
- Joined KPMG as a process reengineer. Worked
on projects like APPM, Wadhwa, IHCL,
supreme, Regus, etc
- I was sent alone for a physical audit to
rajamundry by KPMG with me having no
idea, direction or training for a physical audit
2009-2011
- Difference in the brothers led to split in the
business and I started Deepak Translogistics in
Hyderabad, solely managed, while the brother
division continued
- Work trips 18- 20 days covering 20-25
branches and working 16-18 hrs a day bulit a
business from 0 to 34 cr annual TO in 3 years
with 246 branches and franchises
Take Aways-The energy in that age is the highest will only
deplete there on.

(Never hire KPMG) Long distance relationships don’t work

- Was offered an interim promotion and labeled
exceptional performer along with late comer of
the year
Take Aways- KMPG taught me to organize, plan and execute
and made me process driven rather than person dependant
- As part of the family settlement the company
was handed back to the brother for operations
while dad continued the share holding in the
group companies

- Family was planning to sell the family

business due to disputes between the brothers
and was asked to step in and joined Deepak
transport agency Ltd in 2008 at Hyderabad.
First day in office was a TDS raid
- Started at the ground level working under a
booking branch manager and worked my way
up
Take Aways- have to been in all shoes to be able to direct and
manage
2012-14
- Started Deepak Transexpress again from
scratch focusing on a market gap of express
service of air cargo timelines via surface cargo
and started building the business
- Hit a major fund crunch as the settlement
value or the brothers did not come in since
2009 and the brother went to court and the
matter continues till date and dad had taken up
a residential redevelopment project in
Matunga which was mainly funded by debt
which is a major hurting factor till date
2009-12
- Had broken up due to long distance
- No friends as no time for personal life
- Went on a recon trip to Thailand where
everything that can go wrong went wrong and
we decided to get married
- 2012 was a year of wedding preps and
functions engagement
2015 -2020

Light House Cafe

• Started Light house café and hippity hop as partnerships with friends as the debt
had slowed the scaling possibilities of the business

• Opening light house café khar in 2016 June and worli 2016 covered by numerous
media Mumbai mirror, midday, ht, influencers, etc

• Closed Khar LHC in 2018 for entertainment recovery of 21 cr over common

license

• Had partner disputes with 1 partner since 2017 as he would not put in his share of
capital, not perform his duties and get drunk and create a ruckus at the outlets
which took a turn to legal notices

• 2018 settled the partner out and got an investor in and started expansion

• Signed deals for Georgia, Pune, Chennai and got offered a buy out in 2019 oct
which concluded in 2020 jan

• Take away Re strategise, regroup, replan, re work to
manage the debt

•- 2015 the building project complete till 2.5 FSI and stalled as
no clarity on rules for under construction buildings for
consuming 0.5 additional FSI under fungible
•- 2018 clarity received with DCR 2034 and proceeded with
part OC in 2019 and plan approvals for further development.
Interest was eating up funds over the years
•- 2020 lock down and the residents for a society forcefully to
blackmail to extort money. Claiming 15 cr worth FSI. They
filled complaints and cases with possible department BMC,
estate, Mahada, Local mla, commissioner, society office, high
court, local police, etc to extort money

• Caught on to skiing and scuba diving
• Started playing the guitar
• Got coffee at home 2017 and got butter

marketing - Down sizing due to partner moving to dubai
- Deepak was a logistics business so we had
good business but over heads were very high
- Helped transport people to villages in trucks
- Sold LHC and got out of the business
