Analog Electronics

Tutorial-4
1. Design a two input, two output circuit that yields the sum and difference of
inputs, Vsum= V1 + V2 and Vdiff = V1 - V2 . Try minimizing the component count.
Solution
1.
2. Determine Rin= Vin/Iin of the circuit shown in below Figure.
(b) Given Vin= 2V, Rx= R1= 1kΩ , Rf = 2 kΩ. Obtain Req.

Hint: Use KCL at non-inverting input of opamp

2.

Now,

Applying KCL at non-inverting input

Application
3. Design a circuit to convert 4mA to 20 mA input current to
0V to 8 V output voltage. The reference direction of input
current is from ground to circuit
(Transimpedance Amplifier – CCVS – Voltage Shunt Feedback)

Example : Current to Voltage Converter

3.
Note : Current through Is & current through Vs & R1 gets cancelled out
4. Design a three opamp variable gain instrumentation amplifier to
realize a differential gain that is variable in the range 1-50 using a
100 kΩ potentiometer as a variable resistance. Use second stage
amplifier gain of 0.5. To avoid variable resistance value of zero ohms
connect a resistor value of ‘r’ in series with the potentiometer
5. If v1 = 1V and v2 = 0.5V, find Vo
5.

Ans : Vo = - 4 V
Problem 6
The input to the differentiator circuit is shown in fig.
Find the output Vo if Rf = 2 kΩ and C = 0.1 µF.
