VEGF

VEGF is one of the key angiogenic factors in tumors and

participates in the initial stage of tumor development,
progression and metastasis.

Consequently, VEGF and its receptor-mediated

signaling pathways have become one of the most
important therapeutic targets for treating various
cancers.
VEGF ROLE IN ADVANCED
CANCER SYMPTOMS
VEGF PATHOMECHANISM

PRIMARY ROLE IN DISTAL ORGAN

After DTC entry, host cell-derived VEGF assists DTC

colonization by neovascularization and generating a
suppressive immune microenvironment. DTCs may enter
dormancy due to nutrition restrictions or strong immune
surveillance.

VEGF triggers the phenotypic switch from dormancy to

proliferative status and restarts the colonization process.
VEGF ROLE IN ANGIOGENESIS
VEGF MECHANISM IN METASTASIS

• Stimulation of tumor angiogenesis

• Formation of leaky and disorganized primitive vessels in tumors

• Promoting tumor inflammation

• Alteration of tumor hypoxia

• Promoting interactions between cancer cells and vascular endothelial cells by remodeling of tumor vessels

• Alteration of the host macroenvironment for metastatic spreading

• Support metastatic cancer regrowth in distal organs
