Two general probabilities

1. What is the probability of someone playing basketball?

17/50=.34=34%

2. What is the probability of someone not playing 2K?

41/50=.82=82%
Two conditional probabilities

1. What is the probability that someone plays 2K, given they play basketball?

6/9=.666=66%

2. What is the probability that someone doesn’t play basketball, given they
don’t play 2K?

30/41=.73=73%
Determination of Independence

Is someone playing basketball independent of them playing 2K?

P(A)=P(A/B): P(B)=P(B/A):

9/50=6/17 17/50=6/9

.18=.35 .34=.666

Neither values are equal so they are not independent.
