Focus on India
Moody's ratings stated on Tuesday that the Indian economy is projected to grow by 6.6% in the
current fiscal year (fiscal year 2025). The agency emphasized that strong economic growth
driving robust credit demand would bolster the profitability of non-banking financial companies
(NBFCs). It is anticipated that the Indian economy will grow by 6.6% in the fiscal year ending
March 2025, followed by a growth of 6.2% the following year, leading to strong loan growth for
NBFCs, mitigating the impact of rising financing costs on their profitability.
The Indian economy is forecasted to grow by 8% in the fiscal year 2023-24. Moody's comments
on NBFCs underscore that a robust economic situation will aid in maintaining their asset quality,
even as rising interest rates increase customers' debt burdens. The financing costs for Indian
NBFCs are on the rise, but strong economic growth driven by robust credit demand will support
the industry's profitability. Furthermore, a robust economic situation will help them maintain
asset quality even as interest rates rise, increasing customers' debt burdens.
Market Review
• During the weekly F&O expiry, significant position adjustments by
investors led to substantial volatility in benchmark indices during
Thursday's trading session. The S&P BSE Sensex index fluctuated by
1,220 points, closing at 73,634 points, up by 677 points or 0.93%.
Market Outlook
The India Volatility Index (VIX) fell by more than 2%, closing at around 20
points. Volatility concerns are unlikely to completely dissipate before the
election results are announced. During previous elections, the India VIX index
surged to 29. Based on historical data, there is still potential for further increases
in the India VIX index, which remains a concern for investors. While the S&P
500 index and the Euro Stoxx 50 index rose by 5.1% and 3.7% respectively, the
Nifty index only increased by 0.2%. Continued selling by Foreign Institutional
Investors (FIIs) is a major concern for the market. Once the election results are
clear, India's sluggish performance is expected to improve. Post-election,
Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs), High Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), and
retail investors may become active buyers, leading to a significant market rally.
Next, let's review the Indian Emulsifier IPO that we subscribed to this week. Indian Emulsifier Ltd.
(IEL) was established to manufacture and supply specialty chemicals, including esters, amphoteric
compounds, phosphate esters, imidazolines, wax emulsions, SMO, and PIBSA emulsifiers. The
company's manufacturing plant is located at Plot E-10 MIDC, Lote Parshuram, Taluka Khed,
Ratnagiri 415 722, Maharashtra, India. As of March 31, 2023, the plant's annual capacity was 4,800
tons, and as of December 31, 2023, the annual capacity was 3,600 tons, equipped with process
controls, an innovative R&D center, quality control, and application laboratories. The confirmed
increase in value has already reached 166.67%.
Through these two IPOs, we have already made profits exceeding 600% in the fourth phase. Our
profit target for the fourth phase was 200%, which has been far exceeded.
