Introduction
Ice breaker: think about a recent purchase you made and reflect
on how it got to you
Logistics
• Is the overall process by which goods reach the place
where they are needed.
• Getting products to where the customer wants them, while
at the same time making sure that operations are carried
out efficiently (such as Forward and reverse flow of goods,
Storage of goods, insurance and flow of information).
Example of logistics
A builder in Punta Gorda requires 1200 bags of cement over six months,
delivered in batches of 200 bags per month from the Maya Cement Plant in
Belize City. Logistics (on the part of the Maya Cement Plant) is the process of
organizing the delivery of the goods on time to where they are required, as well
as the processing of payments and other paperwork involved in the transaction.

This involves a lot of coordination. For example, the driver delivering the cement
will need to know the location for the delivery and to have suitable equipment
available for loading and offloading the cement bags, as well as having
somewhere to store the bags, and the necessary paperwork as proof of
delivery.
Supply chain
A supply chain includes suppliers who provide raw material inputs to
a manufacturer as well as wholesalers and retailers who deliver
finished goods.
 It is important to note that the distribution channel also has a supply
chain or vice versa.
