DEFINITION
1) THE BASIS FOR COACHING IS OBSERVATION , ALL COACHING
ALL COACHING BEGINS WITH AN ANALYSIS , ALSO A GOOD

and coaching in competition. He should have the knowledge of
a physical educator with specific knowledge in his field.
3) An educator who interacts with others in the
physical, moral and ideological preparation of
an athlete/player.
What is Coaching?
COACHING IS AN ACTIVITY AIMED AT INFLUENCING THE
WAY FOOTBALL IS PLAYED AND THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY
IT
So a Coach involving himself in Coaching is synony-
mous with:

Teaching, technical information, knowledge of physi-


cal education, conditioning, improvement in perfor-
mance, attention to details.
What knowledge and skill must a coach have?

1) Specific sport skills


2) Basic anatomy and physiology
3) Sport psychology
4) Safety and first aid
5) Communication skills
6) Principles of methods of training
7) Statistical analysis and monitoring

Professional skills
Vision : to see where to go/what is possible with known resources
Plan : the route to success or improved performance for individuals
and team ( a continuous activity.)

Prepare : the program, the route to success, seasonal periods,


matches, individual sessions

Organise : practice, training sessions
