Mating
Both genders of the red panda can court each other.
Mating is typically seasonal, between January and March.
Usually, both genders have more than one mate.
The red panda starts being able to reproduce at eight months old.

Pregnancy
The females of the species carry the pregnancy.
The gestation period can be anywhere from 112 to
158 days long.
The baby red pandas are birthed just like humans.
The babies are born deaf and blind.
A few days before birth, mothers will collect
material to build a nest that is normally located in a
hollow tree or rock crevice.

Offspring
Red pandas are raised by only their mother.
On average, 1-4 cubs are born during each
birth.
The red pandas survive by learning from
their mothers. They learn to only eat the
youngest, and most tender shoots and leaves
of bamboo.
Many red pandas don’t survive to adulthood
due to a loss of habitat.
