What is the Rosary, and

why is it important in
the Catholic faith?
WHAT IS THE HOLY ROSARY?
means “Crown of Roses” or
“Bouquet of Roses”.
The rose is the queen of
flowers, and so the Rosary is
the rose of all devotions
•A prayer to God
•An opportunity to reflect
on the life of Jesus
•A vocal and mental prayer:
reflect and pray
Christocentric
“The rosary, though Marian in
character, is at a heart a
Christ-centered prayer.
-Pope John Paul II
The Holy Rosary is considered a
perfect prayer because within it lies
the awesome story of our salvation.
With the Rosary in fact we
meditate the mysteries of joy, of
sorrow, of glory and of light of
Jesus and Mary.
“The Holy Rosary is a
powerful weapon to put
the demons to flight.”
-Pope Pius XI
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF MOTHER
MARY IN OUR PRAYER LIFE?
The Blessed Mother is our mediatrix
of all graces.
Intercessory role of the Blessed Virgin
Mary as a mediator in the salvific
redemption by her son Jesus Christ
and that he bestows graces through
her.

How to pray the
Holy Rosary
1. Make the Sign of the Cross.
2. Holding the Crucifix, say the Creed.
3. On the first bead, say an Our Father.
4. Say one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads.
5. Say the Glory Be
6. For each of the five decades, announce the Mystery then say the Our
Father.
7. While handling each of the ten beads of the decade, next say ten Hail
Mary while meditating on the Mystery. Then say the Glory Be and the
Fatima Prayer.

8. After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen, followed by
this dialogue and prayer:
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son, by his life, Death, and
Resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant,
we beseech thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most
holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they
contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our
Lord. Amen.
PRAYERS
1. The OUR FATHER
Our father, who art in heaven; hallowed by Thy name; Thy kingdom
come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation; but
deliver us from evil. Amen.

2. The HAIL MARY

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art
thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
3. The GLORY BE
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
HAIL HOLY QUEEN
The Rosary is usually concluded by saying the Hail Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our

sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor
banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up
our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of
tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine
eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb,
Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!

Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of

Christ.
THE HOLY ROSARY

I promise my special protection and the

greatest graces to all those who shall
recite the Rosary.

WORLD
MISSION
DAY 2023
October 22, 2023
(Lk 24:13-35)
MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS POPE
FRANCIS
FOR WORLD MISSION DAY 2023
• Our hearts burned within us “when he explained the
Scriptures to us”. In missionary activity, the word of God
illumines and transforms hearts.
• Our eyes were “opened and recognized him” in the breaking
of the bread. Jesus in the Eucharist is the source and summit
of the mission.
• Our feet set out on the way, with the joy of telling others
about the Risen Christ. The eternal youth of a Church that is
always going forth.
