Introduction
 The word AutoCAD is made up of two words i.e Auto (Logo of
company) and CAD means computer aided drafting.
 AutoCAD is 2D and 3D modeling Software.
 The AutoCAD is developed by Autodesk company.
 The Autodesk is an U.S.A based company.
 The AutoCAD is widely used for 2D drawing & 3D Drawing
We can also state that the AutoCAD is a designing course
which is performed by the help of a software on computer.
Versions of AutoCAD
 This software was first launched by Autodesk company in Dec1982
 In India it comes on 1988.
 Its first version was R1 After that series of its versions come like R2,R3,R4,
… &SO ON.
 in 2000 Autodesk launched a version of AutoCAD 2000 after that
2001,2002…so on.
 The latest version of AutoCAD 2014 which we are using is launched in 27-
march-2013.
 With the latest version many difficulties have been resolved which was in
old versions.
Focus of AutoCAD

AutoCAD Screen
Coordinate system
 Everything that we draw in AutoCAD is exact
 All objects drawn on screen is based on simple X-y

coordinate axis
 In AutoCAD it is known as world co-ordinate

system(WCS)
 We are drawing a line ,so we have two points A(-10,4)

and B(9,6)
How AutoCAD works
 There Is a coordinate system in AutoCAD
 Every drawing shows its coordinates i.e. (9,6) & (-

10,4)
 There is so many commands like copy move rotate

mirror in 2d path array rectangular array polar

array and many more
 Different types of drawing can be made In the same

time by using command i.e. layer

 Using line arc circle rectangle ellipse polygon etc so

many drawing od different type can be made

UCS and WCS

 The AutoCAD world is 3 dimensional, however if we want to

draw a 2D object such as a plan or section ,we will use only 2
dimensions.

 WCS ( world coordinate system) is a imaginary plane that is

parallel to the ground .it is default coordinate system.

 Modifications made to the world coordinate system results in

user coordinate system i.e. UCS .it is a plane that you work on .it
enables the user to draw 3D object

 To create a new UCS ,type UCS on the command window ,then

then new and specify 3 points on your UCS plane.
Tools used in 2D

 Line

 Rectangle

 Circle

 spline
Some 2D commands
 Copy

 Chamfer

 Fillet

 Mirror
 Scale

 Array

 Extend

 join
Modify Tool Bar
 Erase

 Copy

 Offset

 Move
Status tool bar
 Grid

 Ortho

 Polar

 Osnap
Command tool bar
 Command tool bar is used to activating all the
commands which are used in AutoCAD by typing

 It is also the easiest way to give the command to the

command brand also to activate it.
Hatching
 Hatching is used to add shaded pattern to the
object and shapes within the AutoCAD .Hatch
pattern can be used to indicate a material to be
used ,such as a concrete hatch
 Pick

 Pattern
 Scale
 Angle
 points
3D basic modeling
 3d Modeling is a process of developing
mathematical representation of any three
dimensional surfaces.

 3d model represents a 3d object using a collection of

points in 3d space joined by various geometric
entities such as lines triangles curved surfaces etc .

 3d model is used anywhere in 3d graphics.

Tools used in 3D modeling

 BOX

 EXTRUDE

 PRESSPULL

 POLYSOLID

 SWEEP
