 INTRODUCTION

There is a huge role of electronics and communication branch in Indian railway

every communication between different trains, station masters and control
room is operated through the electronic and communication or
telecommunication department.
• Communication between different station.
• Communication between control room and trains.
• Storing and transfer of information to the centre hub.
 How the data is transferred

• Earlier the data is transferred by the copper wires but is was not efficient
and also the loss of data takes place.
• Now Optical Fibre Cable is used which is more efficient and more fast also
the data is not lost.
 Western Indian railway

The western central Indian railway

mainly operates between these stations
Gwalior
Guna
Bhopal
Bina
Itarsi
Maksi
Khandwa
 OFC Department

The OFC department stores the data and

helps to transfer the data. The main
components used are –
• Synchronous transport module(STM).
• Multiplexer and demultiplexer MUX/D-
MUX.
• PRS and UTS.
• Optical Fibre cables.
• Voice loggers.
 Voice Logger

The voice logger is used to record and

store the call between the control room,
station master and the train driver.
These recordings helps to keep the
information secure.
Voice communication in Railway

The voice communication in railway takes

place though the telephones there are
different frequencies for different station
and by connecting it to different
frequency the voice communication is
stablished.
