DISTRIBUTION
MEAN, MEDIAN and MODE
• Mean is the weighted average
of the values that random
variable.
Examples:

a) 8, 7, 5, 9, 10, 8, 8, 7, 9
b) 15, 14, 9, 10, 11, 13, 12
c) 4, 10, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9
MEAN, MEDIAN and MODE

• Median is the value lying at the

midpoint of a given set of data.
Examples:

a) 8, 7, 5, 9, 10, 8, 8, 7, 9
b) 15, 14, 9, 10, 11, 13, 12
c) 4, 10, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9
MEAN, MEDIAN and MODE
• Mode is the value/s that occurs
most frequently in a given set of
data.
Examples:

a) 8, 7, 5, 9, 10, 8, 8, 7, 9
b) 15, 14, 9, 10, 11, 13, 12
c) 4, 10, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9
SKEWNESS
• Describes the shape of the distribution of
data set based on symmetry.

• Coefficient of the skewness is computed

using
~
𝟑( 𝒙 − 𝒙)
𝒔𝒌 =

NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
• Or simply normal curve that
provides a graphical
representation of statistical
values that are needed in
describing the characteristics of
population as well as in making
decisions.
NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
PROPERTIES OF NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

• The distribution curve is a bell-

shaped.
PROPERTIES OF NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

• The curve is symmetrical about

its center.
PROPERTIES OF NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

• The mean, median, and mode

coincide at the center.

PROPERTIES OF NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

• The tail of the curve flatten out indefinitely

along the horizontal axis, always approaching
the axis but never touching it. That is, the
curve is asymptotic to the base line.
PROPERTIES OF NORMAL DISTRIBUTION

• The total area under the

normal curve is equal to 1 or
100%.
