MOBILE NETWORKS - INNOVATION

Tower as a Service Model with AIO

There are several scenarios in which CSPs have to deploy temporary telecom
infrastructure to ensure a high quality of service to their customers.
• Replacing a damaged site • Restoring connectivity after • Quickly set up in a strategic
a natural disaster location

• Covering a temporary • Relieve congested networks • Covering a temporary event

event in high density areas

With the AIO Tower, Axians innovates in technique and business. Axians’ clients
can rent the AIO Tower for a period of 3 months to 3 years.
The Tower as a Service model therefore avoids the need for customers to
invest heavily in this kind of back-up solution. Thanks to the payment of
1 monthly fees, the rental period can be extended to cope with unforeseen events.
2 The turnkey service provided by Axians includes:
• Preparation of the AIO Tower in the workshops with the telecom equipment
• Transport and installation of the AIO Tower on site
• An annual maintenance visit for the steel infrastructure
• Uninstallation and removal of the AIO Tower
• On site commissioning

The AIO Tower is available in various heights (12-14-16-20-25m) and offers

AIO replacement many customization options.

Data Analysis FOCUS: Digital twins and drones to manage TowerCo’s assets

On
• TowerCos need a comprehensive solution for easy data capture and
On-site 20 min 3h storage to centrally monitor, compare or even predict the changes
request
in their tower assets.
Mission Planning Area Mapping • Digital twins will improve efficiency of telecoms sites and capture
500 pictures additional value.
• New trend: shift from preventive maintenance to predictive
maintenance.
• The success of this digital twin solution hinges on data.
• Drones bring with them a host of benefits:
• Reduction in climbing and insurance costs
• Potential for scalability and standardization in data collection.
• Capability to navigate hard-to-reach areas to acquire multiple visual
angles.
• Recognition of problems such as rust or breakage with high-precision
cameras and sensors.
Current use cases
•Complete building plans for building permits;
•Calculate electromagnetic radiation;
•Ensure compatibility of new equipment on an existing site;
•Provide CSPs with accurate data after completion of the work .

• Limited budget, shortage of care personnel, multiple locations
• No interference with patient WiFi and high degree of mobility

Solution
• Mission critical Private LTE network with centralized (geo-redundant)

Recommendations
After a huge hype, 5G is still in its infancy…

5G will never replace Wi-Fi and you will still have LPWAN, mesh
networks etc…
Don’t rush, 5G will take years to mature and consumers, employees and
customers will adopt it slowly
Plan for a mixed 4G/5G future. 4G is mature and 4G Advanced Pro
already fits uses cases such as AGV and large indoor/outdoor coverage.
New endpoint devices such as IIoT and Smart Glasses will enable new
workplaces and working practices
Be prepared for P5G booming in 2024-2025
