FILTRATION PROCESS

Filtration in wastewater treatment refer to the physical process used to separate

suspended solids and impurities from water by passing it through a porous
medium.

ADVANTAGE OF FILTRATION

1. It is effective method for removing suspended solids and colloidal particles

2. It improves water quality by reducing turbidity, color, odor and removing

harmful contaminants from wastewater

3. Simple operation and maintenance

FLOATATION

Floatation process refer to the separation process based on the introduction of

tiny air bubble into the water which attach to the suspended solids and cause
them to float to water surface for removal

MECHANISM OF FLOATATION PROCESS

The mechanism involves three steps in wastewater treatment process

1. Bubble generation

2. Bubble attachment

3. Solid separation
FLOATATION CONT..
ADVANTAGES OF FLOATATION PROCESS

1. Highly effective in removing a wide range of contaminants including

those are difficult to remove through other methods such as
sedimentation or filtration.

2. Require less space compared to traditional sedimentation basin due to

its higher treatment capacity per unit area.

3. Provides excellent clarification capabilities, resulting in clearer effluent

water.
