Hydraulic actuators

• There are two types of actuators used on track

machines- linear actuator i.e. cylinder and rotary
actuator i.e. hyd. Motor.
• Hydraulic Cylinder: Conversion of Hydraulic
Energy in to Mechanical Energy in the form of Linear
Motion.
• Hydraulic Motor: Conversion of Hydraulic Energy
in to Mechanical Energy of Rotation.
 Hydraulic cylinder
• Cylinders are drive components which converts
hydraulic power in to mechanical power. They
generate linear movement through the pressure on the
surface of the movable piston. Cylinders are linear
actuators.
Essential parts of a cylinder
 Common defects in hydraulic cylinder
• Leakage: Through gland bush seals, cylinder body, Piston
Seal, adapters/ thread.

• Dent marks /scratches on piston rod.
