1- Divine Guidance and Belief System:
🌸 The Sahaba's unwavering faith in ALLAH's guidance and the teachings of
Islam instilled a strong sense of purpose and confidence in them.
🌿 Surah Al-An'am (6:125):
‫تو جس شخص کو خدا چاہتا ہے کہ ہدایت بخشے اس کا سینہ اسالم کے لیے کھول دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے‬
‫کہ گمراہ کرے اس کا سینہ تنگ اور گھٹا ہوا کر دیتا ہے‬
🌻Hadith: (Sahih Muslim)
The Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever ALLAH
guides, no one can misguide him, and whoever ALLAH leaves astray, no
one can guide him."
2- Direct Association with the Prophet MUHAMMAD
🌸 Being: companions of the Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him)
(PBUH)
elevated the status of the Sahabas and strengthened their self-esteem. They
received direct guidance and validation from the Prophet, which boosted
🌿 Surah Al-Imran (3:31) :
"Say, [O MUHAMMAD], 'If you should love ALLAH, then follow ME,
[so] ALLAH will love you and forgive you, your sins. And ALLAH is
Forgiving and Merciful.'"
🌻Hadith: (Sahih Bukhari)
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud reported: The Messenger of ALLAH (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "Verily, the
best people are those of my generation, then those who come after them, then
those who come after them.
3- Courage and Resilience in
Adversity:
🌸 The Sahaba's bravery and steadfastness in the face of adversity bolstered
their self-esteem. Despite facing hardships, they remained firm in their beliefs.
🌿 Surah Al-Anfal (8:65):
"O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who
are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you
one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who
have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand."
🌻Battle of Badr :
Hamza (RA), the uncle of Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW), exhibit
courage and valor in the face of adversity during the battle of
Badr.
🌻Battle of Uhud :
Ali (RA) demonstrated exceptional courage and self-assurance during the Battle
of Uhud. Despite being outnumbered, he fearlessly defended the Prophet (SAW)
and the Muslim army, displaying his unwavering commitment to Islam and his
confidence in ALLAH's support.
🌻Battle of Al-Khandaq (the Trench):
Salman al-Farsi (RA) played a pivotal role in the construction of the trench
during the Battle of the Trench, showcasing his ingenuity and confidence in
devising effective defensive strategies. His contributions to the Muslim army
reflected his high self-esteem rooted in faith and resourcefulness.
4- Unity and
Brotherhood:
🌸 The strong sense of unity and brotherhood among the Sahabas fostered a supportive community
environment that boosted their self-esteem. They stood by each other in times of need and celebrated
each other's successes. The bond of brotherhood among the Sahabas is exemplified in various incidents,
such as the Treaty of Brotherhood established by the Prophet MUHAMMAD (PBUH) in Medina.
🌿 Surah Al-Hashr (59:9)
‫اور (ان لوگوں کے لئے بھی) جو مہاجرین سے پہلے (ہجرت کے) گھر (یعنی مدینے) میں مقیم‬
‫اور ایمان میں (مستقل) رہے (اور) جو لوگ ہجرت کرکے ان کے پاس آتے ہیں ان سے محبت‬
‫کرتے ہیں اور جو کچھ ان کو مال اس سے اپنے دل میں کچھ خواہش (اور خلش) نہیں پاتے اور ان‬
‫کو اپنی جانوں سے مقدم رکھتے ہیں۔ اگرچہ انہیں شدید محتاجی ہو۔ اور جو شخص حرص نفس‬
‫سے بچا لیا گیا تو ایسے لوگ مراد پانے والے ہیں۔‬
🌻Hadith: (Sahih Bukhari)
Narrated by Anas bin Malik: When the Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace be upon
him) arrived in Medina, he paired each Muhajir (emigrant) with an Ansari
(resident of Medina). The Prophet (SAW) said, "Give your brother a pledge of
allegiance (to stick to him) and he said to them, 'Do not go to the extreme, nor
be negligent, but be moderate.'"
5-Sense of Purpose and Mission:
🌸 The Sahaba's understanding of their role in spreading the
message of Islam and establishing justice gave them a sense of
purpose and fulfillment, contributing to their high self-esteem.
🌻 Example:
The migration (Hijrah) to Medina, where the Sahabas willingly left
their homes and belongings for the sake of Islam.
🌿 Surah Al-Anfal (8:72):
"Indeed, those who have believed and emigrated and fought with their wealth and
lives in the cause of ALLAH and those who gave shelter and aided - they are
allies of one another."
6- Courage to Speak Truth to Power:
🌸The Sahaba's fearlessness in speaking truth to those in authority
demonstrated their high self-esteem and integrity.
🌻 Example:
Sahabi Abu Bakr's refusal to give his daughter Aisha in marriage to a
disbeliever, despite pressure of family. His firm stance highlights the Sahaba's
commitment to their principles and values.
🌿 Surah Al-Ahzab (33:70)
‫اے ایمان والو !ہللا سے ڈرو اور سیدھی بات کہو‬
🌿 Surah Al-Maidah (5:8)
‫اے ایمان والوں! خدا کے لیے انصاف کی گواہی دینے کے لیے کھڑے ہو جایا کرو۔ اور‬
‫لوگوں کی دشمنی تم کو اس بات پر آمادہ نہ کرے کہ انصاف چھوڑ دو۔ انصاف کیا کرو کہ‬
‫یہی پرہیزگاری کی بات ہے اور خدا سے ڈرتے رہو۔ کچھ شک نہیں کہ خدا تمہارے سب‬
‫اعمال سے خبردار ہے‬
🌿 Surah Al-Baqarah (2:42)
"And do not mix the truth with falsehood or conceal the truth while you know
[it]."
7- Intellectual Curiosity and
Knowledge
🌸The : for knowledge and intellectual curiosity enhanced their
Sahaba's thirst
self-esteem by empowering them with the confidence to engage in discussions
and seek understanding.
🌻 Example:
Sahaba Uthman ibn Affan's dedication to preserving the Quran in written form
during his caliphate, demonstrating his commitment to knowledge and
scholarship.
🌻 Hadith: (Sunan Ibn Majah)
Narrated by Ibn Abbas: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
"Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim."
🌿 Surah Al-Zumar (39:9):
"Are those who know equal to those who do not know?"

How did Rasool Allah (SAW) cultivate the


Sahaba's mindset leading to high self esteem:
1- Emphasizing the worth of every
individual:
🌸The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) emphasized the intrinsic value of each
person, regardless of their background or status.
🌿 Surah Isra (17:70):
"And We have certainly honored the children of Adam."

2- Encouraging self-confidence through


faith:
🌸The Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW) instilled confidence in the Sahaba by
reminding them of the power of faith and trust in ALLAH.
🌿 Surah Al-Imran (3:139):
"So do not weaken and do not grieve, and you will be superior if
you are [true] believers"

3- Leading by
example:
🌸Rasool ALLAH (SAW) exemplified the qualities he wished to instill in his
companions, demonstrating humility, courage, and perseverance in the face of
challenges. HIS actions served as a model for the Sahaba to emulate, boosting
their self-esteem and sense of purpose.
🌿 Surah Ahzab (33:21):
"Indeed in the Messenger of ALLAH you have an excellent example to follow for
him who hopes in (the Meeting with) ALLAH and the Last Day, and remembers
ALLAH much."
🌿 Surah Nisa (4:80):
He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed ALLAH
🌿 Surah Qalam (68:4):
"And indeed, you (O MUHAMMAD) are of a great moral character."
4- Recognizing individual
strengths:
🌸Rasool ALLAH (SAW) recognized and celebrated the
unique talents and abilities of each Sahaba, encouraging
them to utilize their strengths for the greater good. This is
demonstrated in the Seerah through various instances
where the Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW) assigned specific
roles to different companions based on their skills and
expertise.
🌻 Example:
Rasool ALLAH (SAW) recognizing and utilizing the unique strengths of his
companions is the appointment of Usama ibn Zaid as a leader of an army
expedition, despite his young age. He is the youngest army leader in Islam.
🌻 Hadith: (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Narrated by Ibn Abbas, the Prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW) said: "O people! I am
assigning Usama bin Zaid as your leader. He is young but is one of the most
beloved to me. Obey him and set out on your expedition tomorrow"
5- Promoting social justice and
equality:
🌸Rasool ALLAH (SAW) advocated for social justice and equality,
ensuring that every individual felt valued and respected within the
community.
🌻 Hadith: (Sahih al-Bukhari)
Narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of ALLAH )‫ (ﷺ‬said:
"Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed."
A man asked: "O Messenger of ALLAH! I help him when he is
oppressed, but how can I help him when he is an oppressor?"
He )SAW( said: "By preventing him from oppressing others, for that
is how tools

were available to the Sahaba that we can also
leverage in today's world to attain the same :
1- Connection with ALLAH
(Taqwa):
🌿 Surah Hujurat (49:13):
"Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of ALLAH is the most
righteous of you."
🌿 Surah Al-Baqarah (2:165):
"And [yet], among the people are those who take other than ALLAH as equals
[to Him]. They love them as they [should] love ALLAH. But those who believe
are stronger in love for ALLAH."
🪷 Seerah: Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (RA)
Abu Bakr's unwavering faith in ALLAH and his commitment to
Islam, even in the face of persecution, exemplified Taqwa. He
maintained his connection with ALLAH, which strengthened his
self-esteem.
🌻Hadith (Hadith Qudsi):
"Whoever comes to Me walking, I will come to him running."
🌴Practical Step:
Prioritize acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, and
recitation of the Quran. Strengthen your connection with
ALLAH through dhikr and seeking HIS guidance in all
matters.
2- Humility:
🌿 Surah Luqman (31:18):
"And turn not your cheek away from people in pride, nor
walk in insolence through the earth. Verily, ALLAH likes not
each arrogant boaster."
🌻Hadith (Sahih Muslim):
Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him) said, "He who has in his
heart the weight of a mustard seed of pride shall not enter
Paradise."
🪷 Seerah: Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA)
Despite his remarkable leadership and accomplishments,
Umar ibn al-Khattab remained humble. He sought advice
from others, including common people, demonstrating
humility and boosting his self-esteem without arrogance.
🌴Practical Step:
To achieve humility, practice self-reflection, gratitude, service to others,
seeking knowledge, association with humble people, remembrance of death,
forgiveness, and avoiding arrogance.

3- Seek Knowledge and


🌿Understanding:
Surah Al-Zumar (39:9):
"Are those who know equal to those who do not know?"
🌻 Hadith: (Sunan Ibn Majah)
Narrated by Ibn Abbas: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
said, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim."
🪷 Seerah: Abdullah ibn Abbas (RA)
Abdullah ibn Abbas was known for his thirst for knowledge.
He sought guidance from the Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace
be upon him) and later became a renowned scholar. His
dedication to learning empowered him and elevated his self-

esteem. Step:
Dedicate time to learning about Islam through reading the Quran,
studying Hadith, and seeking knowledge from reputable sources.
Deepen your understanding of Islamic principles and values to
guide your actions and decisions.
4- Self-Reflection and
Accountability:
🌿 Surah Al-Isra (17:15):
‫جو شخص ہدایت اختیار کرتا ہے تو اپنے لئے اختیار کرتا ہے۔ اور جو گمراہ ہوتا ہے گمراہی کا ضرر بھی اسی کو‬
‫ہوگا۔ اور کوئی شخص کسی دوسرے کا بوجھ نہیں اٹھائے گا۔ اور جب تک ہم پیغمبر نہ بھیج لیں عذاب نہیں دیا کرتے‬
🌻 Hadith (Sahih Muslim):
"The strong believer is better and more beloved to ALLAH
than the weak believer, while there is good in both."
🌿 Surah Al-Hashr (59:18):
"O you who have believed, fear ALLAH. And let every soul look to
what it has put forth for tomorrow - and fear ALLAH."
🪷 Seerah: Abu Darda (RA)
Abu Darda (RA) was assigned to guard the Prophet MUHAMMAD (peace be
upon him). However, during the chaos of the battle, he left his post to join the
ranks of the companions fighting on the battlefield. After the battle, Abu Darda
(RA) felt remorseful for abandoning his duty to protect the Prophet (peace be
upon him). Step:
🌴Practical
Regularly reflect on your actions and intentions, seeking to
improve yourself and rectify any shortcomings. Hold yourself
accountable for your behavior and strive to strengthen your

Patience:
🌿 Surah Ibrahim (14:7):
"And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely
increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe."
🌿 Surah Baqarah (2:45):
"And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except
for the humbly submissive [to ALLAH]."
🌻 Hadith: (Sahih Muslim)
"Amazing is the affair of the believer, verily all of his affair is good
and this is not for anyone except the believer."
🪷 Seerah: Bilal ibn Rabah (RA)
Bilal ibn Rabah endured severe persecution for his embrace of Islam, including
torture at the hands of his captors. Despite the hardships, he remained
steadfast in his faith, displaying patience. His unwavering commitment to Islam
boosted his self-esteem amidst adversity.
🌴Practical Step:
Cultivate a habit of gratitude by regularly expressing
thanks to ALLAH for His blessings. Practice patience
during trials and hardships, knowing that they are
opportunities for growth and reward.
6- Maintain Positive
🌿Relationships:
Surah Insan (76:8):
"And they give food, in spite of their love for it, to the needy, the
orphan, and the captive."
🌻 Hadith (Sahih Al-Bukhar):
The best of people are those who benefit others.
🌻 Hadith (Tirmidhi):
"A person is likely to follow the faith of his friend, so look whom you
be friend."
🪷 Seerah: Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (RA)
During the early days of Islam in Makkah, Sa'd ibn
Abi Waqqas (RA) maintained a positive relationship
with his mother, despite her opposition to his
acceptance of Islam. Despite her disapproval, Sa'd
treated his mother with kindness, respect, and
compassion.
🌴Practical Step:
Surround yourself with supportive, positive influences
who encourage you to do good and uphold Islamic
values. Foster relationships that strengthen your faith
and character.
By implementing these practical steps derived from the Quran, Hadith and seerah,
one can work towards achieving high self-esteem grounded in faith, righteousness,
and positive actions.
