IN MALAYSIA

• In fact, the survey revealed that 1.8 million out of 3.5 million Malaysians diagnosed
with diabetes were not even aware they were afflicted with the chronic disease.
• “The (faster-than-expected) rise (marks a) 17.5 per cent (increase over the) rate
recorded in 2011," Noor Hisham said after opening the Malaysian Diabetes
Educators Conference 2017, today. The National Health and Morbidity Survey is
carried out every five years. The 2015 survey was the ministry's fifth.
• As obesity is a major contributing factor to diabetes, the high incidence of diabetics
in the country is not surprising, as Malaysia is the most obese country in Asia with
an overweight and obesity rate of more than 45.3 per cent. According to the British
medical journal, The Lancet, 49 per cent of women and 44 per cent of men in this
country were found to be overweight or obese.

CONCLUSION
If you do maintain a healthy lifestyle, there are many benefits, and
not only for your body. Some are maintaining a healthy weight,
reducing risk of developing heart disease, increasing energy levels,
assisting a healthy immune system, and it helps you to be more
social. Having a healthy lifestyle is crucial for giving your body
everything that it needs.
