Definition of kinetic energy

Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by

an object due to its motion.
INTRODUCTION
WHAT IS KINETIC ENERGY?
Importance in physics and
everyday life
It plays a crucial role in understanding the
behavior of moving objects and has
diverse applications in various fields.
Factors Affecting Kinetic Energy

EXPLANATION OF MASS AND VELOCITY

"Mass determines an object's inertia, while velocity

Kinetic energy (kg-m^2)

amplifies its kinetic energy."

- Exponential relationship between velocity and

kinetic energy: "Kinetic energy increases
exponentially with velocity, as demonstrated by the
kinetic energy formula."

PiezoElectric Effect
PiezoElectric Effect
Piezoelectric materials generate electric charge when
subjected to mechanical stress or pressure and deform when an
electric field is applied. This effect arises due to the
asymmetric arrangement of atoms or molecules within the
crystal lattice structure of the material.
PiezoElectric Effect

Installation on flooring

Piezoelectric materials can be embedded within flooring

systems during construction or renovation. They are typically
placed beneath the surface layer of the floor to capture
mechanical stress generated by foot traffic. Wiring is then
connected to harvest the generated electrical energy.
PiezoElectric Effect
Common piezoelectric materials used in flooring applications include lead
zirconate titanate (PZT), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and certain
composites. These materials are chosen for their piezoelectric properties,
Materials used
durability, and compatibility with flooring installations.
PiezoElectric Effect

The amount of electricity generated

Electric Generation from a single piezoelectric tile can
vary, but one study reported that the
energy generated per step by the tile
is 20 joules, which translates to
approximately 3.04167 kWh per
year. For piezoelectric shoes, the
power output can range from
nanowatts to tens of milliwatts,
with one source stating an average
of two milliwatts per shoe during a
typical walk.

Cost of the Pizoelectric application

The cost of piezoelectric tiles for road

flooring varies, with current targets
ranging from $100 to $200 per square foot.
In comparison, laminate flooring costs
between $1 to $6 per square foot, and
hardwood floors can range from $5 to $15
per square foot. For kinetic floor tiles,
prices have been reported around £80 per
square foot.

Kinetic Architecture
Kinetic architecture refers to the design approach that incorporates movable or transformable elements within buildings or structures.
These elements can respond to environmental factors, user input, or predetermined programming, enabling dynamic changes in form,
function, or appearance.

In the Al Bahr Towers, the kinetic energy is utilized in the dynamic

shading system of the facade mechanism. The thousands of individual
panels are designed to move in response to changes in sunlight and
environmental conditions. When sunlight hits the building, the panels
adjust their positions to either allow more natural light to enter or to block
excess sunlight and heat from entering the building's interior.

This movement is powered by the kinetic energy generated by the panels

themselves as they respond to changes in their environment. The kinetic
energy is harnessed and used to open and close the panels, creating an
efficient and sustainable way to regulate the building's temperature and
reduce energy consumption.

involves movable elements, such as louvers or panels, that
adjust to control sunlight entering the building. This helps
optimize natural light, reduce energy consumption, and
enhance indoor comfort.

The dynamic solar shading of the triangular perforated

steel panels allows for the building envelope to adapt
to chaging conditions in the environment through
passive solar shading. In addition to senors the shutters
can be manually opearted depending on the needs for
natural light or desire for shading
