the piston returns to its s tarting pos ition via a return spring. The piston of the
cylinder contains a perm anent s olenoid which can be used to operate a
proxim ity switch.

One-way flow control valve

One-way flow control valves are used to

adjust the flow rate and produce a specific
change in the piston speed during the advance
and return stroke when used with pneumatic
drives. This is done through suitable
restriction of the flow rate of compressed air.
Shuttle Valve

2 Its purpose is to seal off one or

the other of the inlet ports. There is a
1 1 shuttle seat at each inlet port. When a
shuttle valve is in the normal
operating position, fluid has a free
flow from the normal system inlet
port, through the valve, and out
through the outlet port.
Quick Exhaust Valve
2 One quick exhaust valve is used in
each port of the cylinder to ensure an
1 increase in the speed of the rod in both
directions. The use of a quick exhaust
3 valve in a pneumatic system helps to
increase cycling speed, in turn, that
ensures a much smaller valve to be
effectively used for the process.
Throttle Valve

A pneumatic Throttle Valve is used to

control the flow of air from the driver device.
The flow of air from side A to side b can be
controlled but the inverse is not possible. To
precisely control the idle speed in a vehicle
Electronic Throttle Valve is used.
3/2 way valve

2 A 3/2 way valve has three ports

and two positions which can be
operated pneumatically,
mechanically, manually or
electrically via a solenoid valve. 3/2
1 3
valves can be used for: control a
single action cylinder. operate
pneumatic actuators.
4/2 Way Valves

4 2 A 4-way 2 position valve is

known as a 4/2. These valves are
common in double acting cylinder
applications where they are
always supplying pressure to one
1 3 side of the cylinder while venting the
opposite side to atmosphere.
w5/2 Way Valve valve
4 2
5/2 way is a five port, two
position valve that will put a fluid
or air into one end of a double
acting device as well as allowing
5 3 the other end vent to exhaust.
1
2/2 Way Valve ( Normally Closed)
They have two ports (inlet and
2 outlet) and two switching planes
(open or closed) and are
electromechanically actuated. They
are used to start/stop the flow of
gas/liquid and are most commonly
1 normally closed, so that if power
fails the valve will close.
5/2 way valve pneumatically operated w/ spring return

4 2 pneumatic valve is controlled by

applying a pilot pressure at
connection 14. The flow passes freely
1 to 4. By stopping the signal the
5 3 valve is set back to its starting
1 position through the use of a return
spring.
3/2 way valve push button w/ spring return

3/2-way valve with pushbutton

2 actuator, normally closed. The unit is
mounted on the profile plate via a quick
release detent system with blue lever
(mounting alternative "A"). The valve is
1 3 actuated by pressing the pushbutton.
Releasing of the pushbutton returns the
valve to the normal position via a return
3/2 way roller lever valve w/ spring return

Pneumatic roller lever valves are

2 used to sense the position of parts
mechanically within machine
automation systems; a moving part
passes over the roller and operates the
valve.
1 3
5/2 way solenoid valve w/ spring return

A 5/2 way solenoid valve has five

4 2 ports and two positions. It can be
either normally closed or normally
open. When the valve is energised, it
switches from one position to the
5 3 other, allowing fluid to flow through
1 the different ports.
