How children learn their own language ??
Do mothers correct and assess their
children word by word??

Of Course No

Then how children learn the language??

Imitating others words .

They make a lot of mistakes

at the beginning and they
assess themselves and get
feedback indirectly by the
people around them.
Why shouldn't we do that in class and let
students assess their own work?

WHAT IS SELF ASSESSMENT !!

It is the ability of teachers to

judge their teaching honestly
and clearly to see how much
learning happen in classroom.
Who will carry out self assessment??

Everybody should do self assessment.

How to assess one`s performance?
One way to self-evaluation for the teacher:

1-report

2- views of students

3-Recording

4- See others

5- books and references .

teacheralso can assess him self by
asking such questions.
* Is the goal reflects a change in the behavior of the learner
and that can be observed and measured?

•that appropriate to the different level I asked questions

*Did I asked provocative questions to lead different ways of

thinking?

•Did I avoided choosing a particular student before asking

the question?

Did I encouraged students to asked
questions?
Did I accept ideas and suggestions of my
students and know their needs in order to
do it next time ?

disciplinary action?
 Did I distributed my attention on all
students?
What is the useful of self assessment!
1- Teacher can identification class needs.
2- Self-confidence.
3- It will make the teacher put target and
setting for the lessons
4- Planning classroom activities.
5- It will lead teacher to be attention to
individual differences.
To sum up :
Why we assess:
Assessment help teacher to
identify their strengths and
weaknesses to consider
whether changes are
needed in order to improve
the lessons and teaching
techniques.
