Cell

Reproduction
Cell Cycle is the sequence of
the cell growth and division
.
2 STAGES OF CELL CYCLE
1. INTERPHASE

2. M Phase or Mitotic Phase

Interphase

 Where the cell spends most of its

time to grow and replicate.
1. G1 phase (Gap 1)
 The first phase of interphase.
2. S phase (Synthesis)
 The DNA replication happens.
3. G2 phase (Gap 2)
 The last stage of interphase.
 The cell grows more, makes proteins and
organelles.
2 types of Cell Division

1.Mitosis 2.Meiosis
 It happens in our  It happens in egg
body cells. cells and sperm
 It creates two cells.
daughter cells.  It creates four
daughter cells.
M PHASE
 Mitosis
1. Prophase
2. Metaphase
3. Anaphase
4. Telophase
 Cytokinesis
PROPHASE
It is the longest phase in mitosis.
The chromatin will start to condensed
into the shape of chromosome.
The centrioles will move at the opposite
sides of the cell.
The nucleolus disappears.
The spindle fibers will attach to the
centromeres.
METAPHASE
 Chromosomes align at the
center.
ANAPHASE
 Spindle fibers will separate the
sister chromatids.
 The chromosome will form a v shape.
TELOPHASE
 The microtubules disappear and the
nucleolus will appear again.
CYTOKINESIS
Cytokinesis is the final act of cell
division.
Two types of cytokinesis

1.Cleavage Cytokinesis
 Happens in animal cell

2.Cell plate Cytokinesis

 Happens in plant cell
2 stages of Meiosis/Reduction Division

Meiosis I
Meiosis II
MEIOSIS I.
PROPHASE I:
It undergoes synapsis.
Synapsis- The process of chromosome pairs up
with another chromosome.
Tetrad- two chromosome that paired up together.
Crossing over- Exchanging of alleles between the
tetrad.
METAPHASE I.
Chromosomes align at the center
ANAPHASE I.
 Spindle fibers will separate the tetrads and
pull them on the opposite pole.
TELOPHASE I.
 Two sets of chromosomes are surrounded by
new nuclear membranes.
 The microtubules disappear and the nucleolus
will appear again.
Cytokinesis
 The last phase of cell division.
 Meiosis 1 ends with two hadploid cells.
MEiosis ii.
 It will no longer undergo interphase.
PROPHASE II
The centrioles will move at the opposite sides
of the cell.
The nucleolus disappears.
The spindle fibers will attach to the
centromeres.
METAPHASE ii.
 Chromosomes align at the center.
ANAPHASE ii.
 Spindle fibers will separate the chromosome
and pull them on the opposite pole.
teloPHASE ii.
 Two sets of chromosomes are surrounded by
new nuclear membranes.
 The microtubules disappear and the nucleolus
will appear again.
Cytokinesis
 Meiosis II ends with 4 haploid daughter cells.
 Each cells contains only 1 set of chromosome.
