The MORALITY

OF
HUMAN ACT
MORALITY
• Morality is the relation of human acts to their norm.
• It is therefore, the quality of human act whereby it
measures up to what it should be.
MORALITY
• Morality speaks of a system of behavior in regards to
standards of right or wrong behavior. The word carries the
concepts of:
• (1) moral standards, with regard to behavior; (2) moral
responsibility, referring to our conscience; and
• (3) a moral identity, or one who is capable of right or
wrong action.
MORALITY
• The human act is good when it is done in accordance with
God’s law and human reason.
• If the act is performed in violation of God’s law and human
reason, then it becomes morally evil.
MORALITY
• A human act is good when it is good in itself, in its motive /
purpose / end and its circumstances.
• A defect coming from any of these aspects renders an act
morally objectionable.
THE ACT AND ITS OBJECT
• The object refers to the very nature of the act itself.
• An act is the physical tendency towards a definitive
objective or result.
• This result is the approximate norm of morality.
CONSCIENCE
• Conscience is a personal awareness of right and wrong
that you use to guide your actions to do right.
• An inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the
rightness or wrongness of one's behavior.
• An example of conscience is the personal ethics that keep
you from cheating on an exam
