Sequence of Events
STAGE 1 – FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION

• Activation of fire alarms


• Announcement broadcasted from the PA system

What to Do?
CERT/ Security - Silent the fire alarm and carry out investigation ( Real or False fire? )
- Update DECAM to inform that investigation is ongoing
Fire Wardens - Standby for further announcement and at same time check your
surroundings for any fire occurrence. Also check on the sub
alarm panel of your floor.

1) If is it a False alarm;
CERT/ Security - Reset the fire alarm and broadcast the announcement to inform Occupants
that it is a false alarm
- Update DECAM
Fire Wardens - Resume normal duties
Sequence of Events
STAGE 1 – FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION

2) If it is a small fire and has been put off;


CERT/ Security - Reset the fire alarm and broadcast the announcement to inform
Occupants that the situation is under control.
Fire Wardens - Resume normal duties, check your surroundings for any persons
needing assistance.

3) If it is a Real Fire and cannot be controlled;


CERT/ Security - Proceed to Stage 2 by sounding off the fire alarm to run continuously
- Broadcast the evacuation announcement informing
Occupants to evacuate
- Update DECAM & proceed with the necessary crisis
escalation procedures
Fire Wardens - Conduct the evacuation procedures
Sequence of Events
STAGE 2 – BUILDING EVACUATION

CERT - Continue to contain the fire until SCDF arrives (if it is safe to do so!)
- Assist the vulnerable group (children/ elderly/ persons-with-
disabilities) to evacuate
- Perform basic first aid if necessary when at a safe location
- Handover & assist the SCDF ground team if necessary when they
arrives

Security - Perform crisis escalation procedures


- Deploy officers at strategic locations to crowd control & direct traffic
to Assembly Area
- CCTV surveillance to check if anyone are trapped or need
assistance
- Assist the SCDF / SPF if necessary when they arrives

Fire Wardens - Alert everyone to evacuate in an orderly manner via the nearest exit staircase
- Do Not Use The Lifts
- Ensure the vulnerable group are given attention & inform CERT to
aid them in evacuation

TEXT MESSAGE 1

(In the event of a fire alarm activation in the building)

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please. The fire alarm has been activated in the building. We are
investigating the situation, please remain calm and standby near the speakers for further announcement. Thank
you.”

(Repeat)

TEXT MESSAGE 2

(In the event of a FALSE ALARM)

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention, please. We have investigated the fire alarm activation, and are pleased to
advise it’s a false alarm. And no cause for concern. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you.”

(Repeat)

TEXT MESSAGE 3

(In the event of a need to execute evacuation)

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please. There exists an emergency situation in the building. Please evacuate
by the nearest exit staircase, and obey all the instructions given by the fire wardens. Do not use the lift.”

(Repeat)

TEXT MESSAGE 4

(In the event if situation is UNDER CONTROL and do not need to evacuate)

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention please. The emergency situation is now under control. No evacuation is
required. Thank you.”

(Repeat)
What to do at Assembly Area?
Fire Wardens

• Conduct roll call


• Record down names of all occupants to
ensure nobody is still in the Building
• Handover the floor register to FSM/
Building Management team
• Ensure nobody re-enters the Building
until further instruction are given
