WASTE DISPOSAL

PRACTICE
Linhor D. Mangampo
WASTE

• Waste encompasses items that are

no longer desired by individuals,
leading to their disposal as
garbage. The management and
disposal of waste can significantly
impact the environment,
underscoring the importance of
mindful handling of discarded
items.
TYPES OF WASTE:

 Household waste
 Green waste
 Industrial waste
 Dangerous waste
 Farm waste
 Plastic waste
 Paper Waste
• GARBAGE COLLECTION:
Waste trucks gather refuse from
curbsides across the city,
transporting it to designated
waste disposal areas known as
dumps. Typically, these waste
disposal sites are operated by
local or city governments to serve
the community.
WASTE
INCINERATION:
• Waste is deposited into specialized
furnaces known as incinerators or
combustors, where it undergoes
combustion at high temperatures,
generating heat energy. This energy is
occasionally harnessed to produce
electricity. The residual ash from this
process is then typically disposed of by
burial in landfills
LANDFILLS

• These sites involve the burial of waste in

large excavated pits in the ground. It's a
prevalent method of waste disposal
globally, with a history spanning
centuries in various countries. Landfills
are engineered to prevent contamination
of groundwater, ensuring the integrity of
the water supply. Additionally, measures
are taken to prevent direct contact
between the waste and the air,
maintaining environmental standards.
