• Longest Written Constitution: The Indian
Constitution is the longest written
constitution in the world.
• Secular State: The Indian Constitution
declares India to be a secular state, which
means that there is no official state religion,
and it ensures equal treatment and freedom
of religion for all its citizens.
• Calligraphy Masterpiece: The original
handwritten copies of the Indian
Constitution were calligraphed by Prem
Behari Narain Raizada in English and
Vasant Krishan Vaidya in Hindi.
• Unique Borrowings: The Indian
Constitution is a remarkable blend of
borrowed features. It draws inspiration
from the constitutions of various countries

Indian citizens themselves, emphasizing the democratic foundation of the
nation.

It originated from the preamble to the United States Constitution. It was

adapted by India's Constituent Assembly, tasked with drafting the Indian
Constitution.

“Sovereign” means that the absolute authority and independence of the

Indian state.

The term "sovereign" was recommended to be included in the

Constitution by the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly, led
by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

citizens, transcending differences in religion,
