Oluwasegun pual Adetokunbo ladega is a chartered and registered architect
with over 40 years’ consultancy practice experience in architectural design,
construction contract administration, project management, facilities
management, and arbitration and Dispute resolution. For the past 33 years,
first as Executive Director and later Managing Director, has been a major
seminal influence behind the prolific creative output of Interstate Architects
Ltd. Education University of Lagos BES. Hons., MED. Arch., Architecture 1975 –
1981 Activities and societies: President Environmental Design Students Association
1979-1980, Member of Parliament ULSU. 1976 - 1978.
EARLY LIFE
Olusegun is a graduate of the University of Lagos, a well rounded student, he was a member
of the student union parliament for two consecutive years; he was president of the
Environmental Design Students Association (1979/1980 session) and was also active in the
National Association of Architecture Students (NAAS). He is a recipient of the University's
Department of Architecture Outstanding Alumnus Award for Excellence in

PHILOSOPHY
CHALLENGES
Black male architects face a range of challenges including systemic
racism and sexism in the industry, limited access to mentorship and
networking opportunities, lack of representation and visibility, unequal
pay and career advancement opportunities, and navigating
predominantly white and male dominated spaces. Additionally, they
may encounter microaggressions, stereotypes, and biases that hinder
their professional growth and success. Overcoming these barriers often
requires resilience, support networks, advocacy, and efforts to promote
diversity and inclusion within the field
