National Educational policy

CONTENTS
INTRODUCTION
The National Policy on Education(NEP) is a policy formulated by the Government of India to promote and regulate education in India.

The policy covers elementary education to higher education in both rural


and urban India.

The first NEP was published by the government of India by Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi in 1968, the second by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1986,
and the third by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020.
NEP 1992 :
• The 1986 National Policy on Education evolved in 1992
• With the Programme of Action, aiming to introduce a nationwide common
entrance exam for professional and technical programs.
• Later, in 2001, the Government of India set up a three-exam scheme for
engineering admissions:
• JEE
• AIEEE
• State-level exams to simplify the process and promote equal access to
engineering education nationwide.
NEP : 2020
• The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 aims to create an education
system deeply rooted in Indian culture and values.
• It seeks to transform India into a fair and dynamic knowledge society
by providing high-quality education accessible to all.
• It also focuses on early childhood care, and integrating technology into
education.
• Additionally NEP 2020 aims to restructure higher education promote
research and innovation
KEY ELEMENTS:
• NEP 2020 aim to increase the GER to 100% in preschool to
secondary level by 2030.
• The NEP 2020 is founded on the five guiding pillars of Access,
Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability.
• It will prepare our youth to meet the diverse national and global
challenges of the present and the future.

CONCLUSION

• In conclusion, the New Education Policy comes with more merits


than demerits, and even these demerits can be addressed in the
long term.
• The NEP of 2023 will not only be beneficial to students, but the
entire education sector.
• It will foster a healthy, logical, open, and creative mindset for
future generations.
