89% had not had their teen vaccinated or submitted a request

80,3% claimed to know about HPV and that it can cause


cancer

76% claimed to know HPV was only transmitted sexually

60,2% claimed to know about the vaccine

free vaccine for teen girls
320 mothers answered our questionnaire
76,5% claimed to fully trust vaccination

57% declared intent to vaccinate their teen girls against HPV

50% expressed wish to vaccinate their teen boy against HPV

68% expressed wish to vaccinate themselves against HPV

63% pointed their GP as their most trusted health provider

40% did not answer whether they intend


to vaccinate their teen girl
Considerations:
Middle income mothers were less inclined to participate than rural mothers

The literacy level of participant mothers was 70%

45% of mothers were strictly homemakers (unemployed)

25% of mothers had left school at the latest after secondary school

90% of mothers had just received free Pap tests from a screening caravan

3 mothers had received HPV vaccination!

100% participating mothers trusted their community medical nurse!

CMNs claim that the Covid vaccination campaign harmed


public trust in vaccination for teens and adults
Conclusions:
Grassroot awareness campaigns work best to secure full and
corrent info reaches the target population

There is overall a favorable position toward vaccination

Public trust in vaccination CAN be rebuilt with regular and


consistent direct, plain, open communication

Facilitating access is key (the fact that we included the printed


request for the vaccine was greatly appreciated)

Health related incetives work to encourage trust


in the HPV national vaccination programme (we
distrubuted vouchers for free blood tests for
adults and children)
