VERB TO HAVE

In this topic we are going to see the use of the

verb to have.
USE
We use the verb to have in order to convey possession

I have GOT three dogs.

You can use the back-up GOT to

reinforce the idea of possession,
meaning "tener" in Spanish.

The verb to have may have other meanings such as "haber" o "tomar", but
none of them use GOT, so remember to use it just when you want to
express possession.
AFFIRMATIVE SENTENCES
In affirmative sentences we use the subject followed by the verb
and GOT to express possession. But we use HAS GOT in the third person
singular.

NEGATIVE SENTENCES
The negative form follows almost the same outline as the affirmative:
subject, verb and got. We write NOT between the verb and got.

I have haven't not got

not negative sentences, either haven't
He has hasn't got
She has hasn't not got or hasn't.
It has hasn't not got
We have haven't not got
You have haven't not got
They have haven't not got
INTERROGATIVE SENTENCES
As you will see in interrogative forms, we first write the
then the subject
verb,
and, finally, GOT. As interrogative sentences, don't forget the ...
