INTRODUCTION
The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority
(TIEZA), a Government Owned and Controlled
Corporation (GOCC) attached to the Department of
Tourism (DOT), was created by virtue of Republic Act No.
9593, otherwise known as the Tourism Act of 2009. It is
responsible for implementing policies and programs of the
DOT pertaining to the development, promotion, and
supervision of tourism projects in the Philippines.

Atty. Villanueva graduated from the UP


College of Law in 2002 and has 20 years’
work experience. He is currently the
Undersecretary for Operations of the
Department of the Interior and Local
Government (DILG).
