• He was born at Benin City in 1934.
• He had his education at Benin and Yaba Tech.
• He worn many international laurels and took
part in several solo and group exhibition in
Nigeria and overseas.
• He decorated National Theater Lagos for the
2nd world Black African Festival of art and
culture FESTAC in 1977.
• His works:
• *Dialogue I, II, III, IV, and V all - sculpture.
• *Woman in Ebony
• *His works at UBA headquarter building,
Broad Street Lagos.
SUSAN WENGER
• Geogiana Susanne Wenger Traditional
Sculptor
• Susan Wenger, also known as Adunni Olorisha.
• A prominent figure in the development of art
and culture in Nigeria in Osun State.
• She was a versatile artist, art curator, and
priestess of the Osun goddess.
• Wenger moved to Nigeria from Austria in the
1950s and became captivated by the Yoruba
• She settled in the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove,
a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and played a
pivotal role in its preservation and
development. She worked tirelessly to restore
and maintain the grove as a sacred space,
promoting the integration of traditional
Yoruba beliefs and art into modern society.
• Wenger embraced various art forms, including
sculpture, painting, and other traditional
crafts. She often incorporated elements from
Yoruba mythology and spirituality into her
work, helping to bridge the gap between
contemporary art and traditional beliefs.
• Her efforts also had a positive impact on the
local community, as she empowered local
artists and artisans by providing them with
opportunities to showcase their talents and
preserve their cultural heritage.
• Wenger's contributions to the development
of art in Nigeria are significant not only for her
artistic endeavors but also for her dedication
to preserving the rich cultural and spiritual
traditions of the Yoruba people.

• He was born in Ekiti State in 1945.
• He trained at Yaba Tech. and ABU, where he
graduated as a painter
• Award winner in 1973 and PhD in Art history
in Indian University and Bloomington USA.
• A good illustrator, cartoonist and art critics
• He works is in USA for UNO on cultural and
duties.

BEN EKANEM-
sculptor
• He was born in 1946. A sculptor who
specializes in monumental sculptural pieces
• He was a Professor and Lecturer Department
of Fine/Arts. University of UYO
• He has participated in series of solo and group
exhibition.
• Most of his works are in the form of statue
while others are in murals and relief.
• Ben uses media such as cement and bronze.
