Simple Present Tense

• menjelaskan kejadian yang teratur, rutin, atau kebiasaan yang terus
terjadi sehari-hari.
• digunakan untuk menunjukkan suatu hal yang terjadi saat ini.
• Simple Present Tense adalah tenses yang berfungsi untuk menyatakan
general truth, habits, instruction, dan fixed schedules
1. General Truth
• Water freezes at zero degrees. (Air membeku pada suhu 0 derajat.)
• Cats are mammals. (Kucing merupakan mamalia.)
2. Habits
• My father goes to work every weekdays. (Ayahku pergi bekerja setiap
hari kerja.)
3. Instruction
• Do not enter this area! (Dilarang masuk ke area ini!)
• Close the door, please! (Tolong, tutup pintunya!)
4. fixed schedules ini adalah sesuatu yang terjadwal, tapi tidak
berulang
• The show starts at 7 pm. (Pertunjukan itu dimulai pada jam 7 malam.)

• Rumus simple past tense untuk kalimat positif, negatif, dan interogatif
yaitu:

• (+) Subject + to be (was/were) + complement

• (-) Subject +to be (was/were) + not + complement
• (?) To be (was/were) + Subject + complement
• Kalimat past tense positif:
• I was a teacher. (Aku dulu seorang guru.)
• She was fat. (Dia dulu gemuk.)
• They were my students
• Kalimat past tense negatif:
• I was not fat. (Aku dulu tidak gemuk.)
• She was not sick yesterday. (Dia tidak sakit kemarin.)
• We were not tired. (Kita tidak capek kemarin.)
• Kalimat past tense interogatif:
• Was she so busy? (Apakah dulu dia sangat sibuk?)
• Was Intan happy to work here? (Apakah dulu Intan senang bekerja di sini?)
• Were they happy to work here? (Apakah dulu mereka senang bekerja di sini?)
