Resource matrix

A resource matrix is an overview of the WBS. It will list the task required,
the resource required and the estimated time for completion.

Resources can be time limited or resource limited.

A detailed resource matrix can be used to consider: staff training


availability required

costs

hour)

Questions to be asked arising from the creation of a resource matrix could be :
does the competency of the staff match the work to be completed?

Are the tasks dependent on other operations within the task?

The commitment of availability of staff?

Can tasks be broken up evenly and distributed evenly?

What are the skill sets of staff can they complete more than one job activity?

Is it the right team composition?

What are the rates for each staff member?

How urgent is each task?

Skills Analysis Matrix

A skills analysis matrix is a tool that can be used to ascertain the skill level of
personnel before assigning tasks.

This can be as simple as allocating the task to the person and then giving a
rating for the skill level.

Below is an example of a Skills Analysis Matrix

This table shows the skill levels of Julie, George, and Kim for each task.

The numbers represent their skill levels on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.
For example, Julie has a skill level of 5 in creating websites and logos, but only 1 in designing content.
On the other hand, George has a skill level of 5 in designing content but only 1 in creating websites and logos.
Kim has a balanced skill level across all tasks.
