 Cleft Lip.
 Cleft Palate.
 Bifid Uvula.
 Lateral nasal furrow/ Naso lacrimal fistula.
 Dermoid cyst of Nose.
 Congenital sinus.
 Meningocele.
 Nasal glioma.
 Congenital hump nose.
 Proboscis lateralis.
 Bifid nose.
 Atresia of anterior naris.
 Choanal atresia.

Bifid Uvula
Naso lacrimal fistula
Nasal glioma
Proboscis lateralis
CHOANAL ATRESIA
 It is also known as Atresia of the posterior nares.
 It may be unilateral or bilateral.
 It occurs due to persistence of the primitive bucco-nasal
membrane.
Clinical Features:
Unilateral:
 Persistent nasal discharge.
 Obstruction.
 Rhinoscopy – Atresia. Passing a probe or catheter shows the
choanal obstruction
Bilateral:
 Acute respiratory distress.
 It is seen in newborns, it becomes blue.
Investigations:
 Radiography.
 CT.
 Flexible fibre optic nasal endoscopy.
Treatment:
 Unilateral – Transpalatal reconstruction.
 Bilateral – Air-way tube & oxygenation, Transnasal
perforation of atresia & insertion of polythene tube.
