Woven Bone
• Woven bone is a type of bone that is characterized by its randomly
oriented collagen fibers. This type of bone is the first to form in all
foetal bones and during the repair of a fracture.
• The advantage of woven bone is that it can be produced relatively
quickly, but the disadvantage is that it is mechanically weak
• Woven bone primarily forms during intramembranous ossification.

appearance.

• Contains osteocytes, embedded within the matrix.

• Lacks distinct lamellae seen in mature bone.
