Konawe's land coverage is ±11,669.91 km2

Konawe's sea coverage is ±11,960 km2

In 2005, rice production increase 5.81%
become 117,688 ton

Corn production is 2,378 ton, rise 18.85%

Cassava production is 13,456 ton, rise 21.94%

There are some plantation that organized by
local citizen such as coconut, coffee, clove,
cacao, etc

In 2005, the largest plantation is cacao with
18.059 ha area coverage

Cashew with 15,579 ha area coverage

Coconut with 9,128.7 ha area coverage

In 2005, there are 3,960 ships/boats were used
for fish catching

Production in 2005 was 20,994 tons equal to
165,292.05 million rupiahs
Plan of Development

From all potential cluster from konawe we
choose to prepare plan of development in
FISHERY area.

- Give training to fisherman about how to
catching in massive and modern avoiding coral
destruction.

- Provide information about KUR( kredit usaha
rakyat) so local citizen can upgrade their boats
into big ship.

- Prepare Konawe become modern fishery
ambasador.

• Modern port can use by big ship to drop and carry goods.
• Fish processing factory to keep quality of the massive fish
• Transports link to the ports

Demand conditions

Europe: This market takes about 97% of the chilled/fresh fillets with the remaining going to
the Middle East. The preference of fillet sizes is 75% 200-500 grams and 25% 500-1000
grams. The preferred packing is in Styrofoam/ Tampex boxes taped with the customer’s
preferred colour of tape for each grade.

Middle East: This is the other market currently taking the Chilled/fresh fillets. The quantities
range from 30,000kg to 40,000 kg per month. The shelf life in this market is 9 days. The
fillets are taken straight to the supermarkets.

Japan: This is a very quality-sensitive market for frozen products with special requirements.
The preferred sizes of fillets are 500-800grams, 800-1,200 grams, and 1,200-1,800grams. The
fillets should be either skin on IWP (Individually wrapped packaging) in 6 kg food grade
waxed cartons or I.Q.F (individually quick frozen) in 10 kg waxed food grade cartons.

production, and make the konawe a net-exporter.

- Supporting the private sector, in providing cool storage and
freezing facilities, and market information.

- Supporting fishermen in identifying appropriate species for export
markets; and Fulfilling the standard requirements of quality and
safety measures
