 Virtualization in Cloud Computing

• Virtualization is a technique, which allows to

share a single physical instance of a resource
or an application among multiple customers
and organizations. It does by assigning a
logical name to a physical storage and
providing a pointer to that physical resource
when demanded.
 Characteristics of virtualization
1. Maximizing resource utilization
The virtualization is intended to run multiple guest OS
over a single physical machine which fully utilizes the
resources.
It does not keep CPU and other resources idle because
they will be shared among multiple virtual machines.

2. Reduces hardware cost

Abstraction layer provided by virtualization integrates
multiple servers into one or few, it ultimately saves the
hardware cost.
