Ever since the company was established in 1998,
Agency has concentrated its efforts in producing quality travel, responding to
the needs of the times while anticipating the demands of the future.
 Business rules
• Regional agency all over the world need to be able to
login and query the data stored in the database.
• Information should be non-specific for personal
information because the clientele only wants to track
traveling information.
• For each tourist we track name, address and contact
information.
• For each travel offer we need to track climate and GPS.
• Our customers opinion is very important, that is why we
offer them the option to provide feedback.
 Business needs
• Reliable and fast database are able to handle a large amount of
information witch needs to be accessible world wide.
• Keep complete records about:
– present and past traveling outbreaks
– climate and geographical related information
• Easy data input and complex information output.
• Generate comprehensive reports and statistics regarding traveling and
visiting trends and locations.
 ERD Documentation
• The CLIENT and EMPLOYEE entities record all needed data (such as address and phone
number) belonging to the people the agency has to work with. The UID of each entity should be
a personal numerical code specific to the country the person belongs in (such as Personal
Numerical Code for Romanians, Social Security Number for Americans, etc.), or, in the case
that this is not possible, an artificial ID must be made.
• Each CLIENT must have at least one VACATION PLAN, as there is no need to record data
about people with which the agency might not even work with.
• An EMPLOYEE may work on one or more VACATION PLANS, but they don’t necessarily need
to (eg: a janitor, a secretary, an employee on vacation).
• An EMPLOYEE must have a JOB and a SALARY, changes to which must be logged (as well as
the reason for the change).
• Each SALARY must have a PAYMENT RATE (per service, weekly, monthly), changes to which
must also be logged.
• A VACATION PLAN may use one or more transport methods (it doesn’t necessarily have to,
though, as a CLIENT may want a vacation in the city he’s currently in), but only one in a given
timeframe.
• Also, each plan must have one or more ACCOMMODATIONS, even if the CLIENT uses one of
his own apartments or stays at a friend’s place, as each vacation must be at least one day long.
• Each ACCOMODATION must be in an ACCOMODATION BUILDING (apartment complex,
hotel, etc.).
• An ACCOMODATION BUILDING must be in a LOCATION (city, village etc.).
• Each TRANSPORT METHOD must have one or more ROUTES consisting of 2 locations (a
departure and a destination city).
• Each change done to a ROUTE in the database must be logged.
• Also, each ROUTE must have a destination and departure location (the later being non-
transferable).
• Each LOCATION in the database must have a WEATHER REPORT for each day and time of
day, consisting of several meteorological records.
