ORGANIZATION (WTO)
 Founded on 19 November 2001.
 WTO is a global non-profit organization committed
to improving toilet and sanitation conditions
worldwide.
 WTO established World Toilet Day and the World
Toilet Summit in 2001.
 This was followed by the foundation of World Toilet
College in 2005.

PROBLEMS
• During covid 19, the dangers faced by sanitation
workers became worse.
• Women sanitation workers faced unsafe work
environments.
• Sanitation workers suffer from health risks, with a
lower life expectancy compared to the national
average.
SOLUTION (HWTC)
• Sushil Kumar, from a sanitation worker family,
changed his stance on education after enrolling in
Harpic World Toilet College
• Sunil Siraswal, a former manual laborer, received
machine training through the college and aims to
become an entrepreneur in sanitation.

“Story of Aman Kumar”
• Aman Kumar, a school drop-out,
earning minimal wages by collecting
waste.
• Underwent training at the college,
securing a job as a cleaner at
government schools
• On the world toilet day, in Mumbai he
met the Bollywood actor Akshay
Kumar and shared the story of his
journey.
