Definition
A state or condition in which a person or
community lacks the financial
resources and essentials to enjoy a
minimum standard of life.
 Poverty in Pakistan has fallen dramatically
independent bodies supported estimates of
a considerable fall in the statistic by the
2007-08 fiscal year, when it was estimated
that 17.2% of the total population lived
below the poverty line.
 If $2 is considered to be the minimum
daily wage, then more than half of the
country lives below the poverty line,
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said as he
unveiled the Pakistan Economic Survey for
2013-14.
Unemployment

Definition
Unemployment occurs when a person who is
actively searching for employment is
unable to find work.

 Unemployment Rate in Pakistan decreased to 6


percent in the second quarter of 2013 from 6.30
percent in the first quarter of 2013.
Unemployment Rate in Pakistan averaged 5.43
percent from 1985 until 2013, reaching an all time
high of 7.80 percent in the second quarter of
2002 and a record low of 3.10 percent in the
fourth quarter of 1987.
Low per Capita Income
Definition

Per capita income, also known as income per


person, is the average income of the people in
an economic unit such as a country or city. It
is calculated by taking a measure of all sources
of income in the aggregate
(such as GDP or Gross national
income) and dividing it by the total
population.

 The Gross Domestic Product per capita in Pakistan


was last recorded at 806.38 US dollars in 2013.
The GDP per Capita in Pakistan is equivalent to 6
percent of the world's average. GDP per capita in
Pakistan averaged 484.28 USD from 1960 until
2013.
Agriculture

Definition
The science, art, or practice of cultivating
the soil, producing crops, and raising
livestock and in varying degrees
the preparation and marketing of the
resulting products.

 Pakistan's principal natural resources are


land and water. In Pakistan, the most
agricultural province is Punjab where wheat
and cotton are the most grown. Mango
orchards are mostly found in Sindh and
Punjab provinces that make Pakistan the
world's 4th largest producer of mangoes.
 The most important crops are wheat, sugarcane,
cotton, and rice, which together account for more
than 75% of the value of total crop output.
 Pakistan's largest food crop is wheat. In 2005,
Pakistan produced 21,591,400 metric tons of
wheat, more than all of Africa (20,304,585 metric
tons) and nearly as much as all of South America
(24,557,784 metric tons).
Exports

Definition
A function of international trade whereby
goods produced in one country are shipped
to another country for future sale or trade.

 Exports in Pakistan decreased to 207806 PKR

1957 until 2015, reaching an all time high of
275483 PKR Million in September of 2013 and
a record low of 51 PKR Million in April of
1958.

 Population growth (annual %) in Pakistan
was last measured at 1.80 in 2011,
according to the World Bank.
Human Developing Index
Definition
The Human Development Index (HDI) is a
statistical tool used to measure a country's
overall achievement in its social and
economic dimensions.

 Pakistan’s HDI value for 2012 is 0.515—in the


low human development category—
positioning the country at 146 out of 196
countries and territories. Between 1980 and
2012, Pakistan’s HDI value increased from
0.337 to 0.515, an increase of 53 percent or
average annual increase of about 1.3
percent.
