Introduction to Bubble

Chamber
The bubble chamber is a pioneering particle physics detector that
revolutionized the study of subatomic particles. Developed in the 1950s, it
allowed scientists to visualize the paths of charged particles moving
through a superheated liquid.

Makers of Bubble Chamber (Scientists and
Years)
Donald Glaser 1
Invented the bubble chamber in 1952, for which he won the
Nobel Prize in Physics in 1960.
2 Emilio Segrè
Collaborated with Glaser in developing the bubble chamber
technology in the 1950s.
Luis Alvarez 3
Pioneered the use of bubble chambers to study particle physics in
the 1950s and 60s.
