related to importance of zakat

● two paraphrased hadith and Quranic verses
● Two key points about importance of Zakat.
IMPORTANCE OF
ZAKAT IN QURAN
AND HADITH
The Holy Quran says:

1. And perform Salah and give Zakat and bow down yourselves with
obedience to Allah along with those who bow down. (al Baqarah)
2. And perform Salah and give Zakat and whatever of good you send
forth for yourselves before you, you shall find it with Allah. (al
Baqarah
3. The believers, men and women, are allies of one another, they
enjoin good and forbid evil; they perform As-Salat and give the
Zakat and obey Allah and His messenger. Allah will have His
mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
4. Those who give no Zakat, they are disbelievers in the Hell fire.
The Holy Prophet said:

1. Save yourselves from hellfire even by giving half a date-

fruit in charity. ( Sahih Bukhari)
2. Allah said, O son of Adam! Spend! And I will spend on
you… (Sahih Muslim)
3. Allah has enjoined upon rich Muslims a due to be taken
from their properties corresponding to the need of the
poor among them. The poor will never suffer from
starvation or lack of clothes unless the rich neglect their
due. If they do, Allah will surely hold them accountable
IMPORTANCE OF ZAKAT:
1. It has been mentioned with Salah several times in the
Quran which shows its importance.
2. It was also obligatory on previous nations.
3. It helps improve the conditions of the poor in a society.
4. It purifies the wealth and heart of the giver.
5. It is a pillar of Islam and not following it is a grave sin.
6. Caliph Abu Bakr fought against those who refused to pay
zakat during his caliphate. This shows that pillars of
Islam are not to be tampered with and governments
must ensure that it is paid regulary.
