On the first working day of the New Year, January 2, the Tamil Nadu
government launched the novel initiative of setting up a Rs 1,000
crore Tamil Nadu Green Climate Fund (TNGCF) to support climate
change-mitigation and greening projects

debentures and convertible instruments, with a 10-year tenure extendable
by up to two years. “Through TNGCF, we can get funds from global
markets where there is appetite for these initiatives,” says state finance
