1.Define the following terms:
a) Coastline
Coastlines are the boundary between the land and the sea.​

b) Backwash
The backward movement of waves.

c) Swash
The forward movement of waves with splash

d) Long shore drift


The movement of sediments along a coast by waves that approach at an angle to the shore but then the swash recedes
directly away from it.

e)Fetch
The length of water the wind blows over, before it meets the coast.​

1.Coasts provide unique homes to a variety of marine plants and animals such as fish and planktons.
2. Coasts provide beautiful sceneries which attract tourists hence the government earns revenue.
3.Coats support a wide range of human activities such as transportation, which enable trade making a country to
develop economically.
4.Coasts provide opportunity for recreation and relaxation, spending time at the coast can enhance physical and mental
wellness.
5.Coast provide an easy access to water, water is used in many different ways both in industries and at homes.

Wave transportation
Wave Deposition

Wave erosion- Waves breaking down or wearing away materials along the coast.

Wave transportation- The process by which eroded materials are transported by the waves.

Wave deposition- The process by which eroded materials are dropped by the waves along the coast
