The Simple Present Tense
1. Use the simple present to write about :
• A regular activity or habit
• Thoughts or feelings
• A general fact
2. To form the simple present of regular verbs, use the base form
of the verb. With he, she, it or a singular noun, add –s to the base
form. To form negative statements, use do/does + not before the
base form. Have and be are irregular verbs.
Spelling notes for third person singular forms :
• When the base form ends with a consonant before –y, change –
y to –ies.
• When there is a vowel before the –y, add only –s.

Adjectives
An adjective describes a person, place, or thing.
1. You can use adjectives before a noun.
An honest person always tell the truth.
2. You can also use adjectives after verbs such as be or seen.
Fatima is honest. She never tells a lie.
Paulo seems hardworking. He spends hours on his homework.
