information between people.

* Important means of coordinating


activities among IA members, getting
information or data needed for decision-
making and in getting things done.

COMMUNICATION PROCESS
 A. PURPOSE-
 1. To enquire

 4. To express an opinion, idea or attitude

 5. To prompt action from the listener

 6. To support action initiated by others

 B. SENDER
The originator of the message
 C. RECEIVER
The target of communication

 D. MESSAGE
The content of the interchange

Listening skills and perceptions the receiver are important
 F. CHANNEL
Medium or vehicle by which the message is conveyed
 G. FEEDBACK
SEVEN PARTS OF
COMMUNICATION PROCESS
 1. The sender conceives a message to convey to a receiver.

 2. The sender puts the message in a form (encodes) he thinks


will be understood by the receiver.

 3. The sender chooses a channel of communication to use.

 4. The receiver perceives, decodes and understands the message.

 5. Receiver puts the message (encodes feedback) in a form he


thinks will be understood by the sender.

 6. The receiver uses a channel of communication to use.

 7. Sender perceives, decodes and understands the message.


Types/Kinds of Communication
 A. FORMAL- Takes place directly between sender and
receiver.
1. Verbal
a. Oral
b. Written
2. Non-verbal
a. Silence
b. Gestures
c. Demonstration

 B. INFORMAL- Takes place indirectly, usually referred to as


grapevine. It cuts across all organizational lines. It is
effective. It provides officials with feedback. It is 80%
accurate.
