How Churchill was able to change the course of

an entire war in as many ways as possible.
RESEARCH • My research question was:
QUESTION
• "How did Winston Churchill impact the events of
WW2 and how did his decisions during the war
show his heroism?"
• I believe that this question covers the most
important questions about Winston Churchill that
needed to be answered
• I like my research question because it specific
enough that I would not have an overflow of
sources, but also wasn't too specific so that I
wouldn't be able to find enough sources
MY INTERESTS IN THIS TOPIC

• During all of my time studying World War 2 throughout my education, the

main focus has been on either the United States or Germany
• I believe that I chose Churchill as my topic because I wanted to learn more
about the war from different perspectives, especially Britain's
• I think that I chose well, and I enjoyed my research project much more
than I think that I would if I had chosen one of the other topics I was
looking at
MY BEST SOURCES
• One of my best sources was "Roosevelt and
Churchill: A Friendship That Saved The World"
• This source was published by the National Park
Service, so it was definitely credible
• This source helped explain how Churchill
became close allies with Roosevelt and the US,
which was a very important factor in helping
defeat the Axis powers quicker
• Another of my favorite sources was "The
Three Careers of Winston Churchill"
• I found this source on JTSOR, a popular
database with many reliable sources
• This source explained Churchill's role as prime
minister, and also explained what he did
before and after the war
POINTS I Through my research, I was able to prove many things
PROVED about Winston Churchill

Firstly, he is definitely very heroic, as he was able to be

calm and confident in the face of danger

Also, he is extremely politically strong; for example, he

was able to get the British citizens to side with him and
trust him during the Battle of Britain

Finally, he is strategically a genius. His many war tactics

allowed for Britain to excel on both defensive and
offensive ends against Germany
OBSTACLES I • During my research, there was only one major problem I
reached
ENCOUNTERE • I had planned to write a paragraph on how Churchill was

D able to combat German unrestricted submarine warfare,

which is simply just German submarines attacking
commercial ships without warning of it
• But, I was sadly unable to find enough research on this
subtopic, so I had to drop it
• I decided to replace it with a paragraph on how Churchill
combatted the Holocaust and what he did to help stop it
before matters became any worse
CONCLUSION – WHAT I LEARNED
During my time studying

many things about him that I
never would have guessed

I had always thought that he

• First off, even though he might not be as big of a name as FDR was in the US, he probably did more
to benefit the Allies with their fighting in Europe
• You should also know that he had to persevere very hard and work very diligently to gain the
respect and trust of the people, as he was not very well liked at the beginning of his political career
• Third, you must know that of his time, Churchill was one of the greatest heroic figures to ever stand
up against something bad, and what he did has inspired so many to do great today
