Problem

A group of friends is planning to play a game of dice. The game involves rolling a standard
six-sided die. Each player takes turns rolling the die, and the number rolled determines the
outcome of the game for that player.

The game's outcome is based on the following rules:

- If a player rolls a 1, they lose the game.
- If a player rolls a 2, 3, 4, or 5, they win one point.
- If a player rolls a 6, they win two points.

Sample Space
The sample space, ( S ), consists of all possible
outcomes or result and that’s the number of points we
will get when rolling a six-sided die:

S(number of Points) = {0,1,2}

Roll the dice!

X P(x) X • P(x) X-u (X-u)² X-u ²•P(X)

0 1/6 0 • 1/6 = 0 0 – 1 = -1 (-1)² = 1 1 • 1/6 = 0.17

1 4/6 1 • 4/6 = 4/6 1–1=0 (0)² = 0 0 • 4/6 = 0

2 1/6 2 • 1/6 = 2/6 2–1=1 (1)² = 1 1 • 1/6 = 0.17

Variance = 0.34
=6/6 or 1 Standard Deviation = √0.34
= 0.58
