WHAT IS A

MAGLEV TRAIN ?

MAGLEV TRAIN-MAGNETICALLY LEVITATED TRAIN.

LEVITATION MEANS FLOATING OF ABODY IN THE AIR WITH NO PHYSICAL SUPPORT.


IT USES THE PRINCIPLE OF LINER INDUC TION MOTOR WITH LINEAR STATER AND FLAT ROTOR. IT USES SUPER CONDUCTING MATERIAL IN THE COIL.

IT SPEED AROUND 500-600 KMPH.

LEVITATION BY REPULSSION
LEVITATION SYSTEM USING TWO SEPARATE COIL. ONE COIL IS PART OF VECHILE AND CARRIES A DIRECT CURRENT IN THE COUNTER CLOCKWISE DIRECTION. THE SECOND COIL IS PART OF TRACK AND CARRIES CURRENT IN OPPSITE DIRECTION MAGNETIC FIELD STRENGTH AT SEGMENT AB DUE TO THE MAGNETIC FIELD CREATED BY SEGMENT AB IS FORCE ON THE UPPER WIRE IS

SCIENCE THERE ARE 4 WIRE THEN TOTAL FORCE ON THE UPPER WIRE IS

PROPULSION FORCE
.FOR MOVEMENT OF TRAIN IT REQUIRED THREE DIFFERENT SYSTEM.

LARGE ELECTRIC POWER SOURCE. METAL COILING GUID WAY OR TRACK. LARGE MAGNET ATTACHED UNDER THE TRAN.

THE MAGLEV TRAIN IS PROPELLED BY ITS GUID WAY .AN ALTERNATING CURRENT PASSES THROUGH A COIL ON THE GUID WAY. THE RESULT IS ASHIFTING MAGNETIC FIELD THAT PUSHES THE TRAIN DOWN TO ITS GUID WAY.

Advantages of Maglev
1. Quicker and efficient transport 2. No noise 3.It feels comfortable, smooth ride due to very little friction 4. Safe and cost-effective 5. Less consumption of natural resources 6. Environment-friendly as no gas is emitted

Disadvantage
1.Costly to build 2.Costly to run - large amounts of electricity 3.It takes a while for the train to stop from full speed 4.It has complex control system.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
RESEARCH AND DEVLOPMENT FIRST BIGAN IN GERMANY AND JAPAN IN 1970. AFTER LABORTARY TEST THE FIRST TEST LINE WAS STARTED IN1970 IN JAPAN AND1980 IN GERMANY. FIRST TEST LINE WAS COMPLETED IN MAYAZAKI OF JAPAN IN 1977.

THE RUN OF ML500 WAS SUCCESSFULLY ENDED ON MAYAZAKI TEST LINE ATTAINING 517kmph
SECOND TEST LINE WAS COMPLETED IN JAPAN IN 1990 NAMED YAMANASHI TEST LINE. IN 1969 USA SCIENTISTS STARTED THE RESCEACH OF MAGLEV BUT DUE TO LACK OF GOVERNMENT INTREAST IT WAS STOPPED.
