Wesley Newcomb Hohfeld
• Wesley Newcomb Hohfeld was born in 1879 and died prematurely in 1918.
• He was an American legal scholar known for his contributions to the field of jurisprudence, particularly in the
area of legal theory and analysis.
• His ‘Fundamental Legal Conceptions’ publishes as two articles in Yale law journal is one of the foundations
of analytical jurisprudence.
• The Hofeldian analysis system developed by him, offers a comprehensive framework for understanding the
connections between legal concepts and the structure of legal rights and duties.
